The previous tenant was an optician. The walls were adorned with spaceship-like sconces and rounded edges at ceiling height. Atrocious at first glance, the idea of joining a historical interior with 80s vibes grew on me.
The first time I toured this space with Basia I was bewildered and at the same time captivated by the interior design details. I discovered postmodern arches taken straight out of a 1980's lookbook inside a historical building with four meter high ceilings.
The sentimentalism contained in the brand's heritage mixed with the eclectic history of the interior inspired me to find the forms and textures that I used in the project.
I transfered part of this approach in the detailing of the new furniture and also played with coarse structural wallpaper with almost a woolen feel to it.
The fitting room area is complemented by a mural created by Magda Łapińska - Rozenbaum I helped define and creatively directed. We explored many ideas with Basia, from traditional landscapes to abstract interpretation of the movement and texture of wool.

We developed the colour scheme with Basia, the owner of the brand. She wanted to use the natural colour of wool. I added violet as an accent on chosen elements - an inspiration from my mother's skirt I remember from my childhood. It combined these two colours - ecru and violet and now I had the chance to use them in a new setting.
The story of the BSIDES brand stems from the extraordinary relationship between a grandmother and granddaughter. The former is a knitter and the latter an entrepreneur and visionary. I could relate to this story thanks to my relationship with my grandmother. This time, Basia asked me to design the interior of the brand's boutique in Wiktor Bychowski's tenement house from the 1920s on Mokotowska Street.

Design concept. This is the stage containing the idea of the project. I often use references to culture, art, and some visual and musical phenomena. This procedure helps to embed the project and move in a specific direction. As part of the concept, you will receive a visual map of the project, preliminary spatial sketches, and key words describing the project. To facilitate work on the concept, prepare a design brief that will answer basic questions about the project and facilitate further work.
