What I bring to the table

Management of design teams. Leading creative teams in the realm of design, graphic design, stage design.

Extensive experience both in managing my own design studio and academic work has allowed me to expand my abilities in planning team assignments and delegating tasks to the right people in terms of capabilities and talent.

My work at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts has heightened my sensibility to the creative potential of young people. Over time this has developed into a collaborative relationship model based on trust and the communication of clear goals. Over the years I have offered design internships in my studio which has helped young designers in gaining experience through direct involvement in real world assignments.

ABOUT ME

The role of the designer is to plan experiences and emotions. Each element of an interior or an object is defined by structure and materials, both of which define the adventure to which they invite us to, My experience in industrial design, many years of hands on work with materials and technologies allow me to quickly evaluate the feasibility of emerging concepts and verify their implementations.

My methodology - Design Phases

Concept Design

This is the initial phase that articulates the idea of the project.  I often use cultural, artistic, visual, and musical references. This helps in creating a framework for the project and marking a clear direction forward. The client receives a visual map of the project, initial spatial sketches and keywords that describe the exercise.

A brief from the client is helpful at this stage.

Developed Design

The Client - Designer relationship unfolds by both parties working hand in hand. Engagement and feedback are needed from both sides for a project to achieve success. This is especially important during this phase - conversations and dialogue need to happen, whether over wine or tea...

The meeting of two people is the meeting of two worlds. Changes happen along the way and are part of any developing concept, more so an innovative one. If we prepare for them and embrace them, the process will flow more efficiently and we can keep disappointment at bay.

Adjustments stem from different variables - consultations with contractors, value engineering, client changes.  An openness to conceptual evolution is key to a fruitful collaboration.

Executive Design

This is the part of the process where we focus on preparing the design documentation - including the changes that happened in the concept along the way. It includes technical drawings - plans, sections, and details - and any other information required for the successful execution of the project. You will also receive a technical description which contains detailed explanations and instructions for contractors regarding implemented technologies. Last, but not least the executive design phase includes my professional supervision and oversight of the project execution in the form of site visits and/or remote consultations.

Project Consulting Services

I offer consulting services for interior and design projects in the form of meetings billed by the hour. Before meeting a call is helpful to define the desired scope and plan for time allotment.

The development of creative business concepts based on my research of current trends, technologival advancements is the basis of all of my endeavours.

The introduction of good practices for production is also part of my services and a valuable element during each phase of our cooperation.

My ten year experience in delivering many projects to market – both my own and clients’ – allows me to effectively co-create deisgn briefs.

Matching designers and creators to a given project.

I have worked with designers, contractors and producers for many years and have built a network that allows me to help in assigning creative professionals to specific tasks.

Opracowanie interior manuala w oparciu o brand manual.

Preparing interior standards based on brand manuals.

Having worked in and around the art of designing interiors has given me a unique perspective on the use of materials and a plethora of concepts. When creating a new brand it is a given that one needs a logo and brand manual. The same can be said about interiors. These are crafted with forms, shapes and colours, among others. As we get into more details the possibilities become abundant. I offer support in the analysis of current trends and possibilities, conforming projects to the client’s needs. This consists of choosing materials, furniture, and the design of the interior. At the same time I support clients in the definition and verification of functionality.

Design Concept

Design concept. This is the stage containing the idea of the project. I often use references to culture, art, and some visual and musical phenomena. This procedure helps to embed the project and move in a specific direction. As part of the concept, you will receive a visual map of the project, preliminary spatial sketches, and key words describing the project. To facilitate work on the concept, prepare a design brief that will answer basic questions about the project and facilitate further work.
